Ken Hori Exhibition -Flowers of Passion-

He presents the world of unique and deep red, naming it "Flowers of Passion" with cluster amaryllis as the motif. The works of Mr. Hori, turning "kiju (77 years old)" facing the canvas with thoughts of life, asks us "how we live" in this confused modern world. We are sincerely looking forward to your visit.
Ken Hori
Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1948. Graduated from Tama Art University in 1973. Won the Grand Prize at West Japan Rookies Biennale Award in 1975, the Encouragement Award at Kodoten Exhibition in 1979, Rookies Award at Kodoten Exhibition in 1980, the Encouragement Award of Yamaguchi Prefecture Art Culture Promotion and Kodo Art Award at Kodoten Exhibition in 1981, the Honorable Mention at Yasui Award Exhibition and Wasaku Kobayashi Award in 1982, Showakai Award at Showakai Exhibition in 1983. Held a solo show in 1984 (at Galerie Nichido, eight times in total). Started teaching painting as a professor of the major in the art studies course at the graduate school of Hiroshima City University in 1999. Held a memorial exhibition as resigning professor of Faculty of Art at Hiroshima City University in 2013. Won the Yamaguchi Prefecture Award of Distinguished Service for Art in 2014. Current status: freelancer and professor emeritus at Faculty of Art at Hiroshima City University.
